I joined the governing body at Reginald Mitchell as a parent governor more than 25 years ago and for more than half of that I have held the position of Chair. I was also the Chair of the PFTA for several years and was involved in organising and participating in fund raising and social events. My own children attended the school which in part is the reason I wanted to be actively involved in all aspects of school life. I have worked in education myself for more than 30 years. I worked for the Special Educational Needs Service for the last 15 years of which has given me the opportunity to work with children, parents and staff in many Staffordshire schools.  I am passionate and committed to ensure that all children have access to the highest quality of academic and pastoral education and care.

I worked as a primary school teacher for 39 years, retiring as a deputy head of a school in the Kidsgrove area 11 years ago at the age of 60. I then continued to be involved with education both as a part time associate lecturer with Manchester Metropolitan University supervising student teachers during their school experiences and also as a school governor at a number of schools, being Chair of the Governing Board of a large Church of England Primary School for over 5 years until retiring from that position when I reached 70. As a former deputy head and chair of governors, I have a wide understanding of dealing with both school finances and staffing issues. As a church warden I am also aware of the spiritual and moral aspects of education.
